Plant growth chambers and seed breeding

Seed breeders and breeding companies require controlled conditions to study genetic varieties and develop new cultivars. In Nijssen’s plant growth chambers, temperature, humidity, CO₂ concentration, light intensity and air movement can be controlled separately and with a high degree of precision. Nijssen’s in-house control system continuously monitors and records the climate conditions, ensuring reliability and reproducibility.

Applications

Germination chambers provide optimal germination conditions. Horizontal air movement ensures uniform temperature and humidity, high relative humidity supports optimal germination, and consistent light intensity ensures even emergence. This shortens germination time and results in a higher yield per square metre.

Tissue culture rooms, used for in-vitro propagation, require a sterile environment. The right balance of temperature, humidity, air movement and lighting ensures an optimal growth process without condensation. Dimmable assimilation lighting can be used to simulate sunrise and sunset.

Vernalisation, GMO research and entomology

Plant growth chambers are suitable for vernalisation processes and research involving genetically modified organisms and insects.

Seed storage

Seed storage rooms protect seeds from unfavourable climate conditions.
